The time when seed catalogs show up in the mail!! Yay!!

I can trace this heritage back to grammar school days in Rochester when the Harris Seeds catalog would arrive. I’m pleased to say that Harris Seeds (“since 1879”) is still going strong, although my own seed alliances have shifted a bit.

Nowadays, I use a small local seed company, called Southern Exposure Seed Exchange, situated on a farm in Mineral, Virginia, about 40-50 miles east of here. They focus on heritage, open-pollinated, and locally adapted varieties. Then I augment that with seeds from Fedco Seeds and Johnny’s Selected Seeds, both co-op farms located in Maine.

Enough! Back to planning for the Brassicas!
