Seasonal Confusion
Our weather just went from winter seasonal crappy
to high summer anomaly in under 48 hours.
My weather station is not yet a teenager
but today was the warmest day in February
it has ever recorded over its young 10 year history.
A high of 81.1 degrees F.
It is probably not a coincidence that we also have a
monumental insect hatch today.
Tiny midges dancing in the sunlight like dust.
They are totally uninterested in hairless apes,
so we are coexisting just fine.
The bats, on the other hand, are having a field day.
I sat for quite a while in the garden this evening
watching them soar through the skies
enjoying what was on the seasonally unexpected menu.
The weather service says snow in two days.
